Mike Torres, Program Director
Mike Torres, known to many Beyond the Ball participants as "Big Mike", was one of the first kids involved with Beyond the Ball. As a sophomore at Whitney Young High School, Mike took part in the very first winter tournament at a local elementary school gym. Mike now helps run many of our programs and is a great story of how success comes to those who make good choices.
Having grown up in Little Village, Mike's story is authentic. He worked hard in school and recently recceived his B.A. in Finance from the University of Illinois at Chicago. Having worked with children for the past three years, Mike has a newfound admiration for teaching and being able to shape the mindsof kids in positive ways. He is now pursuing a Master’s Degree in Elementary Education and hopes to someday teach in the neighborhood in which he grew up.
